How to Spa
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to complete any necessary paperwork and begin relaxing with refreshments.
For the consideration of all our guests, all services will end on time even if the client is late arriving. No refunds will be given for shorter services.
Feel free to come to the spa without makeup if you would like. If not, we are happy to remove your makeup prior to any skin treatment. We do have an area for you to reapply makeup if needed before you leave.
For skin treatments you will be asked to disrobe and get comfortable on our warm, inviting treatment tables. You will be provided a wrap to wear if you would like. You will remain cozy and covered throughout your service.
Please ask us anything that comes to mind about your service, products, or skin concerns. We customize every service to your skin needs and want you to have the best possible result.
How to Sugar
-
We are proud to be Knoxville’s original sugaring spa! And we are confident that once you go sugar you’ll never go back to wax. Here are some of the many benefits of sugaring instead of traditional hot wax:
This is an all natural product with simple ingredients, only lemon, sugar, and water. There is much less skin redness and irritation after the service than hot wax products.
The sugar is not hot, it is only body temperature, so much less irritating to the skin.
Sugaring removes hair in the natural direction of hair growth, as opposed to against. This results in less hair breakage meaning fewer, if any, ingrown hairs and bumps.
Alexandria Professional Sugaring paste never adheres to live skin cells; therefore, it only exfoliates dead skin cells during the hair removal process, leaving skin silky smooth.
Sugar is water soluble and can be easily removed with warm water. So, no more leaving with sticky wax residue!
Over time, the citric acid in the lemon collapses the hair follicle wall, which causes the hair to become very fine and eases the hair removal process. This results in very sparse hair in any area routinely sugared.
-
We want you to have the very best result from your sugaring service. Here are some guidelines to help you prepare for the service:
Your hair needs to be at least a 1/4 inch long, so please stop shaving at least 10-12 days before your appointment and do not wax at least 3 weeks before your appointment. We recommend 14 days+ of hair growth for legs, if currently shaving. We recommended 4 weeks between your appointments, and ask that you do not shave in between appointments.
Don’t worry if you think your hair will be too long. Your Esthetician will trim the hair to the perfect length for the best sugaring result.
Please arrive with clean, dry skin. Avoid using any powders, creams, or lotions on the area being sugared the day of your service. We do have complimentary personal wipes for you to use at the time of your service.
For best results, do not exfoliate your skin the day before, the day of, or the day after your sugaring service. Also, avoid a hot bath or sun tanning the day of your service.
-
To maintain smooth, healthy skin after and between sugaring services, follow these guidelines:
Please wait 24 hours before exposing your skin to hot water in the bath or shower.
Please avoid harsh products, exfoliation, sun light, tanning beds, and infared light for 48 hours.
Do not exercise immediately following treatment, waiting a few hours will be ideal.
Don’t worry if your skin is slightly pink immediately after the service. This should disappear within a few hours. Please call us if you have serious redness or discomfort after a few hours.
For the smoothest skin and best result between services exfoliate 2-3 times a week in the shower or bath (after the first 48 hours). We recommended Fur Silk Scrub or Bush Balm Exfoliating Scrub for a wonderful gentle exfoliation.
We recommend Fur Oil, Fur Stubble Cream, or Bush Balm Oils used daily to prevent ingrown hairs, bumps, and to soften hair re-growth.
To get the best results from sugaring, have a sugaring service set up every 3-5 weeks. Your Esthetician can tell you the exact best timing based on your hair re-growth.
-
Sunburned, irritated or areas with open skin abrasions cannot be sugared.
Moles cannot be sugared. We can, however, sugar around the mole.
You must wait a minimum of seven (7) days before sugaring after a light chemical peel, microdermabrasion, or exfoliating treatment.
Sugaring cannot be performed if you have been in a tanning booth the same day.
Sugaring cannot be performed if you have recently had laser skin resurfacing. Skin must be completely healed.
No sun/tanning booths for 2 days after a sugaring treatment. Extra precaution should be taken if using tanning accelerators. Wait 2-3 days sugar before/after tanning with accelerators. Of course, we always recommend the use of sunscreen for sun exposure.
Women may experience extra sensitivity to sugaring up to a week prior to the beginning of their period.
Other Service FAQs
-
We want you to have the best result from any Skincare Treatment. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
Prior to your service you will be asked to complete a detailed skin history and your Esthetician will then discuss it with you before any Skincare Treatment. Please know all medical information is strictly confidential and will never be shared.
Medical conditions that may be affected are use of several prescription medications, Accutane acne treatment, pregnancy, breastfeeding, history of light sensitivity, autoimmune diseases, or connective tissue disorders. Because our client’s safety is the most important thing, we may ask clients with certain medical conditions to provide a letter from their physician stating it is safe to have these treatments.
Please let us know if you have a tendency for bad scarring or keloids, poor circulation and healing such as from diabetes. If you have a history of cold sores, you may need a prescription antiviral medication to avoid a cold sore outbreak.
Do NOT use any prescription acidic products or irritants to your skin, such as retinoids or tretinoins, acne medication products such as Retin-AⓇ, TazoracⓇ, RenovaⓇ, AtralinⓇ, ZianaⓇ, DifferinⓇ, VeltinⓇ, or others not listed, for 1 week prior to your Skincare Treatment. These medications and products increase your photosensitivity, which can significantly increase the likelihood of complications.
Do NOT use any products such as AHAs (glycolic acids) or BHAs (salicylic acids), benzoyl peroxide, vitamin C products, prescription lightening agents such as hydroquinone, or any exfoliating products including loofahs or coarse sponges for 3 days prior to your Skincare Treatment. These products increase your photosensitivity, which can significantly increase the likelihood of complications.
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds to the planned treatment area(s) for 2 weeks prior to treatment. In fact, we recommend that you discontinue the practice of prolonged tanning due to the increased risk of skin cancer and aging.
Do NOT tweeze, wax, use a depilatory, or undergo electrolysis in the areas you wish to have treated for 1 week before treatment.
Avoid Botulinum Toxin Type A (BotoxⓇ) and dermal filler injections on or around the treatment area(s) for 2 weeks prior to treatment, unless otherwise approved by your healthcare provider.
If you have an active cold sore or skin infection the day of your treatment, please call our office to reschedule your appointment.
Avoid shaving the treatment area the day of the appointment.
Please call us if you have any other questions or concerns.

Prepare for triLift Treatment:
Avoid the sun at least 48 hours prior to your treatment. If you must be in the sun, be sure to wear SPF 30 or greater. If you have a sunburn, your treatment will need to be rescheduled.
Avoid certain skincare products: Any retinoid (ie. Retin-A, Tretinoin) or acid-based products (ie. salicylic acid, glycolic acid) should be avoided. These can cause severe skin irritation and/or dryness when used before a microneedling treatment. In most cases, it is recommended to avoid these products for 1 week prior to your treatment.
Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medications because these can block the inflammatory response necessary for collagen production.
If you have a history of fever blisters, take antiviral medication starting 1 day prior and follow the directions on your prescription.
If you shave your face, please shave the day before and NOT the day of your triLift treatment.
Post TriPollar “Lift” Instructions:
In case of excessive edema/erythema (swelling or redness), cool packs or Avene thermal water spray may be used to cool down the area.
Avoid direct sun exposure immediately after the treatment and if erythema (redness) persists.
If the treated area is likely to be exposed to the sun, regular application of sun block (at least SPF 30) is recommended.
Sunscreen may be applied immediately after TriPollar Treatment.
Sunscreen may be applied 24 hours after triFX (microneedling) treatments.
Post triFX (RF Microneedling):
Avoid makeup or any skincare products for about 24 hours post triFX (RF Microneedling). In the first 24 hours, only Avene (thermal spring water) or sterile water may be used to soothe skin.
Within 24 hours to 3 days, tiny micro scabs may appear. It is important not to peel or scrub these scabs off. Scabs will shed off naturally within a couple of days.
You may have a “sun-burn” sensation for 24-72 hours post treatment. You may also have “stamp marks” from the microneedling – normally subsides within one week.
Redness and swelling may occur. This is a normal response and duration is typically 1-3 days. You may take Benadryl or anti-histamine to help with swelling. Cool packs, not ice packs, can be applied, if necessary, to relieve inflammation and provide comfort in the first 36 hours.
If swelling or redness worsens, please call the spa at 865.230.7113, as a prescription can be called in.
Do NOT use Retin-A, Retinols, Tretinoin, Vitamin C Serum for 7 days post treatment. If you areFitzpatrick IV-VI (darker skin tone), please resume Theraderm Enlighten Skin Brightener 48 hours post treatment.
Additionally, hot baths, massage, or any mechanical or thermal damage (ie. Saunas, steam) to the treated area should be avoided.
Fresh, clean pillowcase recommended post treatment.
Gentle skin care (gentle cleanser that does not exfoliate nor scrub the skin). See recommended skincare below).
Gentle moisturizer and mineral makeup that does not cake is recommended, but only 24 hours posttreatment. Recommended to wash makeup brushes prior to using.
Be sure to apply Sunscreen 30 or higher 24 hours post treatment.
Recommended skincare post your triLift treatment:
Avene Thermal Spring Water and the following Theraderm products: Cleansing Wash, OPC Reparative Serum, Eternox Triple Peptide Moisturizer, and Platinum Protection Sunscreen.
For Fitzpatrick skin types IV-VI (darker skin tones) or if you have “dark spots”, we recommend Enlighten Skin Brightener.
